Eco-friendly Microcars to converge in Stowe Vermont for “Microcars in the Mountains,”

a celebration of rare, international über-mini vehicles

Earth Day-Inspired Event Hosted by Ye Olde England Inne

February 6, 2010 (Stowe, VT) – Auto aficionados who have long found an outlet for enjoying their Ferraris, Porsches and Spitfires now have a home for the tiniest car in their stable, the microcar, as “Microcars in the Mountains” kicks off a weekend of driving tours, “show and shine,” wine tasting, socializing, entertainment and dining this April 23-25, 2010. Slated to coincide with Earth Day celebrations world-wide, this three-day event celebrates the big heart in microcars, traditionally defined as small-sized cars (no more than 11 feet long) with engines no more than 1000 cubic centimeters, and inherently low emissions.

Ye Olde England Inne, the epicenter of the event, is delighted to add this latest inductee into its growing roster of fine automobile events. Said Chris Francis, the inn’s owner, “While we’re probably best known as the hosts of the British Invasion (www.britishinvasion.com), Mustangs in the Valley, and the Stowe Cobra Conclave, this event fits perfectly in our mission to offer fun and interesting events for all types of car lovers.” And fun it will be. The microcar event will include multiple meet and greet opportunities, village touring routes, a competition for “best micro,” as well as a variety of event-centric entertainment and dining, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful, historic village of Stowe Vermont, one of New England’s most picturesque and lively villages.

Ye Olde England Inne organized Microcars in the Mountains to coincide with Earth Day 2010 Celebrations, according to Francis, citing, “This was an appropriate weekend to host the event in that these little cars are very kind to the planet and in many ways can be viewed as the forerunners of what is now a very important and earth-friendly trend of motorcar design.” While the most iconic versions may be from original manufacturers such as Reliant (England) Isetta (Italy) Daf (Holland) Heinkel and Messerschmitt (Germany), this event’s intent is to bring together all “small wonder” enthusiasts – meaning the definition is fairly loose in that a car with a larger engine is still acceptable. Accordingly, Microcars in the Mountains will also welcome the new versions of microcars and Smart Cars which have great popularity in European cities, Japan, and more nearby, Montreal.

As the event sponsor and host, Ye Olde England Inne has created a special weekend line-up chock-full of experiences for all the senses, including:
